Exhibition story
The exhibition presents the photographs from family albums of immigrants from Bosnia-Herzegovina who live in Slovenia. It shows the life before immigration to Slovenia, and outlines the settling into new society.

Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia kindly invites you to a photo exhibition opening “Our parents are from Bosnia”, on 23. 11. 2012 at 19.00 in
Gallery MAK, Sime Milutinovića Sarajlije 7, 71000 Sarajevo.
Free entry.
Exhibition will be open from 23. 11. 2012 until 3. 12. 2012 between 10.00 and 19.00 hrs.
Intro
We are two friends whose parents have moved from Bosnia to Slovenia.
Through family photos we
offer an insight into our immigrant world which is sometimes unknown and misunderstood.
In 35 photos we present how our parents immigrated to Slovenia, how they managed to settle
in and how we are doing, the so-called second generation.
The exhibiton is dedicated to our parents and all those who are lookng for different perspective.
Background
Bosnia-Herzegovina is the area where large proportion of immigrants come from. Everyone has his or her own perception about these immigrants or cannot imagine where they come from, how they once lived, and what is the story behind their migration. The main aim of the exhibition is to present the life’s background or 'hidden world' of immigrants, which largely remains unknown to Slovenian public.
